And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:23-25
Here is one of the Bible passages I am using for 2025, and I challenge you to do the same. These words from Paul are as relevant today as they were when they were written. These words are a call to action. Yes, action. Guess we need to get busy.
So … HOLD ON! Stay connected to that hope and hold onto it as if your life depends on it – because it does. There are so many things in life that can and will distract us from that hope – our selfish thoughts and ideas; conditions; circumstances – all pushing Jesus to the side and fighting for top billing. Do your best to be immovable, steadfast in our hope.
“Therefore, my brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)
AND THEN … more directions are right there in verses 24-25. Encourage. NOT discourage. Challenge each other on to love and good deeds. One of the greatest ways to encourage each other is by meeting together, even Paul tells us not to give that up. Meeting together for worship provides encouragement, support, teaching – so much more – and you cannot encourage, or be encouraged, from a distance.
There are so many opportunities for encouragement here at Havasu Christian Church. Make it a point to be present at as many Sunday Worship Services as you can. Worship with abandon and encourage others to do the same. Don’t miss Sunday School. Get involved in a small group study. Become a part of one of the church ministry teams. Find a church committee you have an interest in and get involved.
