‘Tis the season …
Ahh, here we are. The holiday season. Family get togethers, Church gatherings, Jesus’ birth, food, cooking, baking, shopping and wrapping, gift giving, donating, decorating, music and singing, caroling, crowds, fa la la la la, la la la la!
So. Many. Things. “’Tis The Season To Be Jolly”.
This time of year, we see so many decorations, pins, shirts, even social media posts with the quote, “Jesus is the reason for the season.” It’s great that these statements give Jesus top billing, but is He?
As Christians, we take this time of the year to celebrate the birth of our Lord – our Savior – Jesus. A wonderful, miraculous birth. A birth that sent a Savior to us. A plan of salvation put together by a God that loved us so much that He literally sacrificed His own Son so we could celebrate not just a season, but forever with Him.
So, isn’t Jesus the reason for EVERY season? Jesus is far more important to our lives than just a season. He is far more important than any get together. Any gathering. Any gift. Any song. Jesus is the reason for our worship! Emmanuel – God with us!
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord has spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall all His name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
Matthew 1:23 (esv)
And here we even have Jesus saying:
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:20 (esv)
Peace and Love …
